Medical Payments (MEDPM)      

Covers medical expenses to you and your passengers injured in an accident. There may also be coverage if as a pedestrian a vehicle injures you. Does NOT matter who is at fault. Medical payments may also cover policyholders and their family members when they are injured while riding in someone else's car or when they are hit by a car while on foot or bicycling. Coverage is limited to the terms and conditions contained in the policy.

 
Accidental Medical Protection Plan (AMPP)      

Covers you (or family under a Family Plan) while driving or riding in any private passenger vehicle. Defined accident medical expenses are paid directly to you without a deductible.

 
Rental Car Reimbursement (RR)      

Covers renting a car if your car isn't drivable or while your car is being repaired because of a covered accident.

 
Company Strength and Comparison      

It is important to understand the financial strength of insurance companies when you are comparing auto insurance quotes. Several national rating institutions rate insurance companies. You pay less with one company than another for the same coverages for many reasons. Some of it is related to the size of the pool that the company has to spread the risk. The main reason you want to check ratings is to see if the company cant pay future claims or benefits. Financial strength ratings are an analysis of a wide variety of risks that could affect an insurance company's long-term viability. Insurance companies have failed or ceased to operate due to inadequate financial strength, competitive forces, or changing dynamics in the marketplace. Coverage Definitions      

A person or an organization, other than the named insured or covered person, who is protected under the named insured's auto policy. If an auto is leased, the leasing company may want to be listed as an Additional Insured as well as a lien holder or loss payee. This protects the leasing company if it's named in a lawsuit for an accident caused by a policyholder.

Regulations on Texas Auto Insurance      

Texas has a number of regulations in place to aid the consumer. These regulations are laid out in the Texas Insurance Bill of Rights. Some of these regulations that help the consumer are: Regulation of discounts for a number of reasons, including multiple automobiles, driver’s education or defensive driving courses taken, and safety devices such as airbags or alarms in the car The right to be treated fairly when making a claim, and the right to have prompt payment of claims once they have been reported The right to choose your own repair shop The right to a written explanation of denial of coverage or increase in rate

 
Texas auto insurance coverages that are required by law      

Texas requires both bodily injury and property damage coverage. A minimum of $20,000 per person and $40,000 per accident for bodily injury coverage and $15,000 per accident for property damage. Texas also requires you to buy personal injury protection and uninsured motorist protection unless you reject these coverages in writing.

 
Texas Bodily Injury Coverage      

Texans are required to buy bodily injury coverage. Bodily injury coverage is a form of liability insurance that will pay for the medical expenses, pain and suffering, and lost wages that you cause and are legally responsible for in an automobile accident. Texas’ minimum limits are $20,000 per person and $40,000 per accident.

 
Texas Property Damage Coverage      

Texans are also required to buy property damage coverage as a part of their insurance. Property damage definition, but is not limited to, damage to buildings or other vehicles or their contents, and damage to road signs and other stationary objects. The minimum limits in Texas are $15,000 per accident.
