Regulations on Texas Auto Insurance

Texas has a number of regulations in place to aid the consumer. These regulations are laid out in the Texas Insurance Bill of Rights. Some of these regulations that help the consumer are:

  • Regulation of discounts for a number of reasons, including multiple automobiles, driver's education or defensive driving courses taken, and safety devices such as airbags or alarms in the car
  • The right to be treated fairly when making a claim, and the right to have prompt payment of claims once they have been reported
  • The right to choose your own repair shop
  • The right to a written explanation of denial of coverage or increase in rate
