If two or more insurance companies have denied you coverage, you are eligible to apply for insurance through TAIPA (Texas Auto Insurance Plan Association). This will allow you to get coverage for the minimum amount required by law. Because of the risk factors, this coverage is often expensive, but if you maintain a clean record for three years, your assigned TAIPA insurance company must offer you a lower rate. For more information on TAIPA and the Insurance Bill of Rights, visit the Texas Department of Insurance Web site at www.tdi.state.tx.us.
